The villas leave you very isolated from the rest of the hotel and the outside baths and showers are not as appealing as they sound. It would of course be possible for some people to love both of these aspects! Some parts of the rooms were a bit tired looking. If you are old, infirm or like to have a few drinks at night beware the stepping stone entrances to the villas. The main pool and general service is good. The hotel provides a shuttle to Hua Hin (10 mins) but even in low season this fills up quickly. The local taxis are expensive by Thai standards (3/400 baht) so a meal in Hua Hin quickly trebles in cost. You can get eggs and rice right outside for 25 baht of course. The AKA Resort certainly delivered. The resort opened in April 2006 and is in immaculate condition. I had a pool villa with spa which had it own lap pool. Room, facilities, food and service were all first class. Only disappointment was to find I needed transport (shuttle bus) to go anywhere from the resort. This wasn t a real problem but I had thought from the website that the beach was close. In summary a top resort for a real chill out . Once in the resort it was all worthwhile,the hotel is absolutly beautiful. We had a pool villa which was fantastic. the staff are first class and nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant is the best, if a little pricey.
